David Mawell est décédé. Nous avions vu le pianiste blues légendaire il y a plusieurs années à Québec accompagné du guitariste Monster Mike Welch.

As we read through the many postings here, we are moved by how much David has meant to everyone – whether the connection was a single jam session, a weekend gig, a lifelong collaboration or friendship. To us he was a loving and beloved husband, brother, uncle and dear friend. We respected his choice to remain private about his battle with prostrate cancer which understandably made the news of his passing all the more unexpected and difficult.

As his family, we will miss his dry wit, inexhaustible curiosity, ruthless card playing, and sensitive nature. We will always love him and his legacy will live on in everyone who knew him.

Thank you for your tributes and recollections which keep his memory alive. We will keep you posted about the time and place for a memorial service to be held later this spring.
